Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi have their first script reading

The new MBC drama, ‘The King’ has kicked off with the final phase of pre-production.

Actress Ha Ji Won, actor Lee Seung Gi, and the supporting casts got together at the Ilsan MBC Dream Center on the 26th and had their first script reading (Read-through) for the first time.

A production staff of ‘The King’ spoke with TV Report on the phone, “Today’s script reading was the first one for ‘The King’ and the mood of the gathering was a very happy one. The script reading was lead by production director Lee Jae Kyu and the actors at the reading were both serious and considerate of fellow actors”.

The staff continued, “PD Lee Jae Kyu is well known in the industry for being a tenderhearted man, but then you also had two very serious senior actors present at the read, actor Lee Soon Jae and actress Yoon Yeo Jung. It was basically the first time the powers sort gelled together”.

‘The King’ is set in an imaginary Korea that is ruled by a constitutional monarchy. It will tell the love story between a prince of Korea (Lee Seung Gi) and a legendary North Korean female military special forces officer (Ha Ji Won). The drama is of a black comedy genre and it will have the two protagonists go through many hurdles to fulfill the love for one another.

‘The King’ will start filming on the 31st and the first episode is scheduled to air on March 14th, after the end of ‘ The Moon Embracing The Sun ’.
